This system establishes a collection of structured XML data that constantly evolves as new information is added and existing content is updated. Users can acquire, load, author, edit, use and repurpose content to get the information they need in the right format, quickly and easily. United States Code
The United States Code contains the general and permanent laws of the United States, codified by subject matter and divided into 50 titles. New releases are made available as the Public Laws of the United States are incorporated into the United States Code. Volume increases while Congress is in session, and there may be no updates when Congress is not in session. This compilation is a cooperative effort between DSCS and Legal Content Inc., and includes editorial notes and enhancements. This is the most up-to-date version of the United States Code available.
US Public Laws: 1789 to date
The US Public Laws are the laws as passed by the U.S. Congress. The DSCS collection includes the public laws as published by the Government Printing Office (GPO). Available same day as released by GPO
US Bills and Resolutions: 109th Congress to date
The DSCS collection of the Congressional Bills and Resolutions includes all versions of Congressional Bills & Resolutions published by the Government Printing Office (GPO). Available same day as released by GPO
Congressional Record: 2000 to date
The Congressional Record is the official record of the proceedings and debates of the United States Congress. The DSCS collection includes the Congressional Record as published daily by the Government Printing Office (GPO) when Congress is in session. Available same day as released by GPO
Statutes at Large: 1789 to date
This collection includes the Public and Private Laws of the United States back to the 1st Congress in 1789. The original files were obtained when DSCS purchased Potomac Publishing Company. Current updates are from the GPO. Available same day as released by GPO
Code of Federal Regulations
The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is the codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the Executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government. The CFR is divided into 50 titles representing broad areas subject to Federal regulation. Available in most current version
Federal Register: 2003 to date
The Federal Register (FR) is a daily publication that provides a uniform system for making regulations and legal notices issued by Federal Agencies. These include Presidential proclamations and Executive Orders, Federal agency documents having general applicability and legal effect, documents required to be published by Act of Congress and other Federal agency Documents of public interest. U.S. Committee Reports: 110th Congress to date
This collection contains all reports issue by the various committees of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, as released by Congress and the Government Printing Office. Each committee report summarizes the purpose and scope of a bill and sets forth the committee's findings and recommendations, including a statement estimating the costs (or revenues) resulting from its potential enactment. Committee reports reveal the "legislative intent" of the committee. Available same day as released by GPO
Nonprofit Financial Data: 2001 to date
The DSCS collection of non-profit financial data is taken directly from IRS 990 filings and includes complete financial information as is reported on the form. Available within one month of receipt from the IRS
Congressional Research Service Reports: 2003 to date
The Congressional Research Service provides research and analytical support to Congress. The CRS Reports, including memoranda, briefings and consultations, provide detailed information and analysis on the leading issues before Congress. Available within days of release by CRS
